Scottish Football Association

Scottish Football Association

Client Background

The Scottish Football Association is the governing body of football in Scotland and has the responsibility for the control and development of football in Scotland. It was formed in 1873, making it the second oldest national football association in the world.

Client Challenge

The initial brief for this project was produce an online portal for coaches who were going through their UEFA Pro Licence. The UEFA Pro Licence is an award aimed at coaches working in the professional football setup and is a requirement for coaches who wish to manage a football club at the top level.

Outside of training days - the portal was act as a communication hub between coaches and also to allow coaches to submit assignments set by their lecturers. Given that the portal contained sensitive information, such as email addresses, contact telephone numbers etc., the portal had to offer strict security by means of user authentication.

Client Solution

The solution I offered was a bespoke PHP content management system that would contain:

The frontend of the site was authored in HTML and CSS where I used Photoshop and Fireworks for the graphics.

Client Result

As it transpired, the bespoke PHP CMS wasn’t required as the IT department planned to integrate the design into their own ColdFusion system. Possibly one of the easiest jobs I’ve had because I didn’t have to worry about supporting the system.

I have been asked before to remove this from my portfolio but I did the original design so I should get the credit.
